Outside the Box Counselling is located at 4300 Cedar Hill Road in Victoria, BC.
For those travelling on public transport, the area is served by bus lines, with a stop 200 metres or so from the office and another one about a block away at Shelbourne and Kennmore.
If you are driving, parking is free on the street and you should usually be able to park right in front of the house.
I work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the day and my latest slot is at 4:30. Availability for those slots is often is limited due to high demand for openings at the end of the day. I am also available for video counselling, especially for those who are geographically isolated or have challenges around mobility and/or transportation.
As a White Settler of mostly European ancestry, I acknowledge that I live and work at the foot of P’Kols, where the traditional and unceded lands of the W̱SÁNEĆ meet those of their neighbours, the Esquimalt and Songhees peoples. I gratefully celebrate the Land beneath my feet and strive to walk gently upon it and respectfully beside the people, creatures and plants that surround me here.
I also recognize that generations of racism and colonization have caused serious harm to the Indigenous Peoples of this Land, and that healing this harm is complex and will be the work of many decades. I’m committed to being part of that healing. I actively seek out opportunities to engage with trainings and workshops that help me better understand the perspectives of my Indigenous neighbours, reflect on my own positioning as a Settler, and discern the path I am being called to follow with respect to reconciliation and right relationship in this present moment.
